Intersecta

Intersecta er et tverrfaglig, bio-digitalt kunstverk som utforsker krysningspunktet mellom mennesker, insekter, økologi og teknologi. En sensorisk hjelm fasiliteter et intimt møte med levende barkbiller og tar lytteren gjennom en fabulerende nå- og fremtid for våre sammenkoblede liv og dødsfall. Selv om barkbillen Ips Typographus blir sett på som skadedyr av kommersielt skogbruk er de nøkkelnedbrytere og livsfasilitatorer i biodivers skog. De fleste barkbiller tilbringer mesteparten av livet i mørket mellom barken og veden, noe som gjør deres verden utfordrende å se og lettere å ignorere. De fleste biller er, som mennesker, jordbrukere, enn på en annen skala. I gallerirommet danner billeøkologien nye landskap man kan møte ansikt til ansikt.
Når vi beveger oss inn i Donna Haraway’s foreslåtte, gjenopprettende epoke Chthulucene, fra den nåværende, utnyttende Antropocen/Capitalocene/Plantationocene, utfordres vår forestilling om hva og hvem vi er sammenfiltret med. Hvem vil være her i fremtiden? Og hvordan kan vi forlate verden så nådig som mulig med de som skal være igjen i tankene?

Anne Cecilie Lie

Gjennom Anne Cecilie Lie (NO, f. 1983) sitt arbeid utforsker hun hvordan å skape i vår nåværende geologiske æra foreslått som Antropocen, med dens tilhørende filosofiske og etiske spørsmål, samt for mulige fremtider. Hun påpeker blindsoner i sosiale og bygde strukturer og foreslår nye alternativer for sameksistens til det menneskelige-eksepsjonelle/sentriske. Stedsspesifisitet og kryssbestøvning er iboende for hennes arbeid, inspirert av Donna Haraways teorier om tentakulær tenking, basert på feministiske, postkoloniale, vitenskapelige og fabulerende tilnærminger til samarbeid med mennesker og ikke-mennesker. Lie innehar en master i scenografi ved Akademi for Scenekunst og en bachelor i kunst fra Trondheim Kunstakademi.

– Kneel in the Quest for Love

In times where technology is deeply embedded in everyday life, it is hard to imagine any segment of our lives where we do not have to be tech fluent. Indeed, our emotional lives are not left behind. To fall in love or to find an ideal partner, we rely on algorithms to do the job for us. Although these apps are designed to help us find love, actually they promote consumption. We are transformed into commodities or objects of trade—it is you and market with an increased competitive aspect. With intensified engagement with dating apps, desire for love becomes excessive. When the stakes are high, how much are we willing to give for love? Are we ready to go through the most radical transformations and let the dream become a reality? After all, almost everyone in the world wants to be in love or loved.
Thus, seeking advice presents an effective solution to deprivation inside the digital-dating culture. In this account, the interactive installation of No Strings Attached is focusing on trends of self-improvement methods. As the title of the work may suggest, we invite audience without emotional attachment to kneel in front of the sculpture and dive into the world of intimate commentary.
With a playful approach, our services are designed to confront your most private doubts about your potential as a dating subject.
By utilizing the latest facial-analysis tools, the algorithm assesses overall desirability and provides recipients with practical advice.
These messages are inspired by a dark sense of humor and emotional depth. In the end, the work is a playful artistic comment on the imbrication of digital technologies into dating life.

Anja Malec works in video, audio/visual performance, and installation, moving from the static object toward the interactive installations and engagement of the audience with work. The internet and media culture define Malec’s art practice. Through artistic practice, she explores the phenomenon of human flaws as a side effect of the digital lifestyle or the ones emphasized by digitalization. Further, in her body of work, she tries to break the dichotomy between art (the process of creative expression) and life (the consumer culture). She takes a creative and playful approach to represent this somewhat complex human state of mind.

En annen partner

Prosjektet ‘En annen partner’ begynte for over ett år siden, da menneske-person Renate og plante-person Gullis møttes i en blomsterhandel og bestemte seg for å flytte sammen. Siden den gang har de dyrket sitt forhold etter beste evne — ved å være aktivt tilstede i hverandres hverdag, ved å introdusere hverandre for hobbyer, familie og venner, ved å dele hemmeligheter, drømme og lage løfter de aldri kan holde. Akkurat som alle andre forhold.

De har til og med reist på charterferie sammen; og på Atelier Nord kan du få innblikk i hvordan dét utartet seg.

Renate Synnes Handal

Renate Synnes Handal (NO) er kunstner med base i Bergen. Hun mottok sin bachelorgrad i kunst ved Kunst- og Designhøyskolen i Bergen (2016) og sin mastergrad fra Universitetet i Bergen, Fakultet for Kunst, Musikk og Design (2018.) Siden hun fullførte har hun jobbet som kunstkritiker for den lokale avisen Bergens Tidende. I 2019 er hun del av TagTeam sin Skrivestue, et prosjekt som fokuserer på å utvikle kreativ skriving om kunst. Praksisen hennes kan best beskrives som en plattform for historie-fortelling, hvor store ontologiske spørsmål fungerer som et bakteppe. Det er en praksis som leter etter empati, ekte kommunikasjon og utforsker vårt politiske ansvar som menneske.

The Darknet Spa

The Darknet spa is a multi-disciplinary, interactive performance and installation. The work focuses on the topic of anonymous internet browsing through what is called the Dark web or Darknet. It investigates the responsibility we place on our technologies and how they can ultimately function as a mirror that reflects back to us the broken parts of our society. Simultaneously the work underlines the gap between our physical and digital experiences, incorporating the viewers body into the Darknet as a materialized physical space. The Darknet spa offers the audience to delve into the subconscious of our digital hive- mind, offering a glimpse into the darker sides of our collective psyche.

Unnur Andrea Einarsdóttir

Unnur Andrea Einarsdóttir (IS/NO) is an Icelandic visual artist and musician. Her work explores our relationship with technology and the utopian and dystopian manifestations of our digital present. It investigates the divide between our virtual lives and physical bodies, and how global networks influence our identities, societies and collective perception of reality. Unnur Andrea works mainly with video, performance, and installation, often seeking to create an immersive and encompassing experience for the viewer. As a singer and music producer, the sonic elements remain an important and central factor in most of her work.
